“Ciudad Arce, free of violence against women and girls in public spaces”

In March, our colleague Sara Ortiz was in El Salvador, where, together with CooperAcción and Organización de Mujeres Salvadoreñas por la Paz, she carried out the project “Ciudad Arce, libre de violencias contra mujeres y niñas en espacios públicos”with the support of Justicia Global of the City Council of Barcelona.

Thanks to this project we had the opportunity to:

1. Share experiences with feminist collectives.
2. TraWork with a group of more than 30 women leaders from the municipality of Ciudad Arce to carry out a participatory diagnosis of urban security from a feminist perspective, analysing their daily network and carrying out community mapping and exploratory tours.
3. Train the technical staff of the municipality of Ciudad Arce.

The current situation in El Salvador is critical and worrying, and there are serious instances of human rights violations. Now more than ever we will continue to support our feminist sisters in the region.
