Sara Ortiz Escalante

Sociologist from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2000), Diploma in Gender Relations from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2005), Master in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois (2009) and PhD in Planning from the University of British Columbia (2019) with the thesis “Planning the everyday/everynight: A Feminist Participatory Action Research with women nightshift workers”. Before joining Col·lectiu Punt 6, I worked with different organizations and institutions on the integration of the gender perspective and addressing violence against women in El Salvador, Mexico and the United States.

My main areas of work are related to mobility, safety, participatory methodologies and participatory action-research from an intersectional feminist perspective.

I am the mother of Lila and Maia, and motherhood constantly provides me with learning and challenges to continue working for a feminist, anti-racist and anti-capitalist society.
